As I look down the list, one item stands out above the rest. Can you guess which one? Of course, it is #10. For a long time, I've wanted to complete a half-marathon...13.1 miles. No, I'm not a runner. Heck, I'm really not even a walker if we are talking about doing it for exercise. I don't know why I want to do it other than I need a BIG goal to work toward. I want that sense of accomplishment when I cross the finish line. I know it will be a difficult journey to complete that goal, but I think I will learn a lot about myself in process. I will need a cheering section. I can do it. I will do it. I'm excited to begin.
I love your list, Dawn. I hope you had a great birthday, and I look forward to seeing your progress. If you need help with your 5k and half marathon goals, let me know. Kind of funny that the picture of me that came up when I signed up to follow you is the picture of me at my first half on Thanksgiving 08. I didn't remember setting that up on my google account, but I thought how appropriate that it is there, and you will have your own first half pic before you know it!
ReplyDeleteYour list is great! I may have to follow your lead. I set the goal of running my first 5K this year on my 36th birthday. I did it in April. I ran the entire 5K in the pouring rain without walking then I hopped on my bike and rode for 50K. My next goal is a sprint tri next June. I am currently on week 4 of my training plan. I haven't missed a day of training yet. If you ever want to run or run/walk together, I am there. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteWell, I've done 1, 2, and 3 this year! But I do have my eye on #8...
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! This will be an awesome year...
I love the blog name and your list! I hope you have the best year.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why, but I've often had the urge to complete a half marathon too. I'm not officially adding to my "list" yet, but it's written in invisible ink on there!
ReplyDeleteI'm about to start blogging at a fitness blog called Bodies in Motivation starting in August. I'm hoping the accountability of having readers read about my fitness journey will make me accountable to my exercise too!
Love the blog, by the way!!
ReplyDeleteI think it is an excellent list Dawn. I think I may be copying some of your goals!
ReplyDeleteThank you, everyone for being so supportive. I was really afraid to put myself out there. If more of you realized how out of shape I am, you might laugh a little more at the half-marathon goal. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe encouragement does wonders for me right now.
